
A large number of youths and villagers of nearby villages gathered at Bilaspur Chowk on the Delhi-Jaipur highway and blocked the highway at 9 am on Thursday to protest against the Agneepath plan to recruit youths into the army for four years. Those opposing the plan were demanding the restoration of the old recruitment system in the army. Due to the protest, there was a jam of about nine kilometres on the highway from Pachgaon Chowk to Dharuhera in Rewari. When the vehicles' wheels did not move until 11 a.m., the police removed them by diverting traffic from in front of Dharuhera and Manesar.Protesters remained encamped at Bilaspur Chowk until the evening.At five in the evening, the protesters were dispersed after being persuaded.
Many officers, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena, ACP Harendra Kumar, and BDPO Navneet Kaur, were present on behalf of the district administration. The youth raised slogans against the government and demanded an immediate withdrawal of the scheme. The youth said that the country would not be safe with this scheme implemented in the army. Under this scheme, the youth going to the army will not only be dedicated to the country but will also complete their four years. The youth demanded that the Defense Minister immediately withdraw this scheme and start the army recruitment process under the old scheme.
Explaining the protesters, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said that your demand has been conveyed to the government. The government will solve this soon. Kapil Punia, a resident of Pathredi, said that the government should accept the demand of the youth and cancel this scheme. In this, neither the youth's future nor the present are secure.The government should start the recruitment process by withdrawing the Agneepath scheme. Due to the lack of a recruitment process in the last four years, the youth who could not take part in it. Age relaxation should be given to them.
Vehicles are removed from alternate routes.
Vehicles coming from Jaipur were sent via Rewari to Pataudi. Vehicles were also sent from Dharuhera to Gurugram via Pataudi. Due to the increase in the number of vehicles, there was a jam situation in Pataudi for the whole day. Vehicles going from Delhi to Jaipur were evacuated from KMP towards Rewari.
Congressmen also jumped into the fray.
All India Congress Committee member Sudhir Chaudhary said that the BJP came to power in 2014 by giving the slogan of One Rank, One Pension. Now the BJP government has completed the work of abolishing the army pension. The government is doing the work of snatching the right of employment from the youth. This is a betrayal of the country and the youth. Workers of Congress and other opposition parties were also seen during the protest.
Traffic pressure remained for hours on Sohna Road.
The effect of the jamming of the Delhi-Jaipur highway by the youth near Bilaspur Chowk against the Agneepath scheme of the Central Government was seen in Gurugram. Vehicles going from Delhi to Jaipur were diverted from Rajiv Chowk towards Sohna. Due to this, there was traffic pressure on Sohna Road. Traffic remained under pressure from 10 am to 4 pm. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, Headquarters) Yashwant Yadav interacted with the protesters to clear the jam. He told the protesters that ambulances were also stuck in the jam. People are getting troubled by the scorching heat. Yashwant Yadav said that no untoward incident took place during the protest.
